New recruit brings wealth of PM experience
He’s built warships and windfarms, Pizza Huts and pipelines – and now Mr Leigh Newbery is joining Switch as a Director.
Leigh has known Switch Co’s other two Directors, Adrian Brown and James Harris for years and spent two years on the company’s advisory board before signing up to work with the company full-time.
For a man with three kids who still manages to find time for Crossfit, cycling, surfing and fishing, the move to take on leadership of a fresh crop of projects with Switch offered a new outlet for his energy.
“Taking on this new role at Switch gave me opportunities to apply myself to a whole new set of challenges,” Leigh said.
“I’ve worked in jungles, ship yards, restaurants and energy development fields and I really value diversity in my work.
“Switch are an agile and evolving business with very good prospects, and are managing to grow quickly while keeping quality and stakeholder satisfaction at the forefront.
“Lots of companies talk about integrity and doing the right thing by staff, but Switch really try to live those values and it’s a really exciting place to be.”
Leigh has 20 years of experience in delivering engineering projects, delivering remote location engineering projects on Indonesian oilfields, building Pizza Hut restaurants in the UK, working on shipbuilding projects in Melbourne and Western Australia and developing wind power projects across Australia.
