The only thing more certain than death and taxes is the queues that will form outside chocolate shops when Easter draws near.

Koko Black, which has earned a reputation as arguably Australia’s finest chocolatier, has long had a dominant presence in Melbourne, but has now decided to establish two new stores in exclusive locations in Sydney – with a deadline to open the doors before Easter.

Switch is overseeing the construction of a 160 sq metre two-level store in the exclusive Strand building, while also installing a 13 square metre kiosk in the historic QV building at the same time.

The stores have been designed by Weiss-heiten, a German architectural firm renowned for developing high end food retail stores.

“We’re excited to be applying our skills and commitment to quality to our first Koko Black project – and to be helping to bring some of Australia’s best chocolate to Sydney,” Switch Director Adrian Brown said.

Construction is underway and the stores will both be fully open to an appreciative public on Tuesday 31 March.
