Double no trouble

Switch opens a pair of Coles Express service stations in two states on the same day.

It’s more than 860 kilometres from Moe in regional Victoria to the Adelaide suburb of Woodville, but the Switch team had no trouble coordinating the construction of new Coles Express service stations simultaneously at each location.
Both sites were completely new – at Woodville, the service station was developed on busy Port Rd, while at Moe, the car park of the neighbouring Coles supermarket had to be expanded to free up space for the new service station – giving customers easy access to fuel after they had filled their car with groceries.
“Both sites were brand new, so we managed the planning process, then coordinated the installation of tanks, lines and pumps, construction of the canopy and shops and installation of all the signage and services that make a new service station attractive and successful,” Switch Supervisor Steve Dawson said.
The Moe site posed some challenges in locating water services to connect to the site and also extending the supermarket car park, but problem solving for both projects meant that they were ready to be open on the same day, Switch Project Manager Jung Yau said.
“It’s great to deliver projects which are clearly going to make life easier for people – developing new Coles Express sites at convenient locations gives motorists that extra bit of convenience in their day,” Jung said.
Switch has now delivered four brand new Coles Express service stations in less than a year, as well as managing the design of a further two sites.
